Design & Build quality of Mi Notebook Pro Vs Realme Book Slim
Starting with design, both these laptops comes in minimalistic design with just a logo on front of top pannel. There is no doubt that both are inspired from macbook lineup and build with alluminium body. Mi Notebook Pro is claimed to have 6-series aviation-grade aluminum alloy body whereas Realme mentions that it uses a high-quality aluminum body to give premium looks and sleek design.
On the top of that, both laptops are portable and easy to carry on bag due to thin and lightweight. Realme Book has little bit smaller dimension of 307.21 x 228.96 x 14.9 mm and weights only 1.38 Kg whereas, Mi Notebook Pro fit into 315.6 x 220.4 x 17.3 mm space and weight around 1.4 kgs. On design and build quality, they both done great job and I am impressed on them.
Performance: Realme Book vs Mi Notebook Pro
Let's dig into Realme book and mi notebook Pro performance. Both of these laptop has Intel core i5 11th generation processor but, Realme Book has i5-1135G7 processor, clocked at 2.4GHz, Turbo Boost up to 4.2GHz, 25W TDP whereas Mi Notebook Pro has i5-11300H high performance processor, clock at 2.6GHz, Turbo Boost upto 4.4GHz, TDP 35W. So, Mi Notebook has slightly edge on performance.
However, I have used both of these laptops for several days. There was no noticeable performance difference in day to day use, but if you run any heavy software or games then there difference can be seen.
Gaming
Coming on gaming aspect, both the laptop has same integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU even though none of these are dedicated for gaming but these laptops can handle light gaming for few hours. I have played GTA-V, Valorant and CS-GO on both of these laptop where both manages to get 60 fps at low settings while playing GTA-V and there was no major difference in other games as well. Meanwhile Mi Notebook Pro has slightly better performance on longtime gaming but, there was no major differences.
Heat management
Moving on heat management, Realme Book has dual fan, good ventilation as it has large grill at bottom side. Farthermore, fan is slightly noisy, as it run at maximum rpm you will feel little bit vibration on body. Here in this laptop heat management is good enough, after 45 minutes of gaming, the CPU temperature was hovering around the 49-53ºC.
On other side, while doing normal stuff Mi Notebook Pro wouldn't heat up but it definitely wormed up while playing games on it but that's normal. This laptop has good heat management single fan at the bottom. Comparing Mi Notebook Pro with Realme Book, both has good management meanwhile, Realme Book has slightly better control over heating.
Editing & Software experience
In terms of editing on photoshop and Premier Pro, both of these laptop can edit upto 1080p resolution video whereas, you can connect external GPU via thunderbolt 4 port to edit high quality video on both of these laptop.
However, photoshop works seamlessly on both laptop and there was no exception while running other basic softowares. These laptops are great for colour grading and working with colours as they have 100% sRGB support alongwith high resolution display. Realme Book has 3:2 ratio display so this may help you for editing whereas mi notebook comes with traditional 16:9 ratio display. Now choices is upto you but both has same performance in terms of editing and basic day to day use. There is no issue in basic day to day tasks.
Display & Sound
Beside other features, Realme Book Slim has impressive 2160p x 1440p 3:2 aspect ratio display with 100% sRGB colour gamut support and 400nits max brightness. On other side, Mi Notebook Pro has 2500p x 1600p QHD+ 16:9 aspect ratio display with 100% sRGB support and 200nits max brightness. One thing I want to mention that Realme book has glossy display, means its display will reflect a lot of light and I am not a fond of that whereas Mi notebook has matte display for better viewing experience. Realme Book has 3:2 display which is good for editing, working in word sheet but shows lot of blank space while watching movies and shows whereas mi notebook pro has regular 16:9 ratio display.
However, both of these laptop have barely narrow bazzels with impressive display, great viewing experiences. Even high resolution content looks more clear and sharp due to high resolution display of these laptop. Now, from all above features and my usage, Mi Notebook display has edge over Realme book. This is not only for matte display, on addition mi Notebook has higher resolution display and I personally prefer 16:9 display over other.
Furthermore, Realme Book has 2W bottom firing Harman dual speaker which are loud enough to fit into a small room. Sound quality is also good. Moving on Mi Notebook Pro, even though it has 2W bottom firing stereo speaker, sound is not loud enough and you need to have external speaker to watch content with your family. Realme Book Slim clearly stands here.
Keyboard & Trackpad
Moving on keyboard, both of these laptop has backlit keyboard without num pad and has a programmable macro key which you can customise for dedicated task like launching a software or a file with a single click. both have good key travel and good haptic feedback. One thing that I have noticed that Realme Book has mild flex on keyboard dec although it doesn't effected my typing experience. Overall, both of these laptop has good keyboard and I am not deciding winner here.
Beside good keyboard, both of these two has big trackpad even though, mi notebook has slightly larger trackpad, both supports multi-touch gesture and windows precision driver. Now, they are almost similar and I have no complain about them.
For security, both laptop has windows hello enable fingerprint reader on power button itself. Which allow you to login you pc with a single click. This are fast, responsive and secure.
Ports
Moving on ports, Realme Book (i5 varient) has 1x USB type-C 3.2 gen 2, 1x USB type-C thunderbolt 4, 1x USB type A 3.2 gen 1 and a headphone jack. Meanwhile, Mi Notebook Pro is offering combo of 1x USB type-C, 1x USB type-C thunderbolt 4, 2x USB type A 3.2 gen 1, 1x HDMI 1.4 and a audio jack. Here both laptop has thunderbolt 4 which you can use for connecting external GPU, external 4K monitor or whatever you want. Furthermore, mi Notebook Pro has extra HDMI port as well as one extra USB A port so, mi notebook pro has clear edge over here.
Battery backup & charging
On battery and charging expect, both companies claimed 11 hours of video playback on Mi Notebook Pro with its 56Wh battery and 54Wh battery on Realme Book Slim. But, in reality none of them offers such battery backup. You can expect to have maximum 7 to 8 hours of run time in mi notebook pro at normal use. Even though in my case, I got 5 hours of playback time on Netflix.
Things is not different in Realme Book, you will get almost similar 7 to 8 hours of run time while doing basic tasks like working on word document or presentation. Both the laptop has very good battery backup as compared to other laptops at same price range. But I felt that Realme Book has slightly better runtime and there is no major differences.
Farthermore, both companies is offering 65W charger out of the box which can charge these laptop within 70 to 80 minutes. However, Realme Book Slim has 65W small charger like in smartphone charger whereas, Mi notebook pro has traditional laptop charger and personally I don't like that.
Connectivity
For better connectivity, Realme Book (i5 varient) has bluetooth version 5.2 and latest WiFi 6 support whereas Mi Notebook Pro has bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6 as well. Here Realme Book comes out to be better but, I don't think this as a big deal.
OS & Other features
Coming on operating system, both laptop comes with Windows 10 Home alongwith MS office 2019 licensed version for lifetime. Even through both the laptop will get Windows 11 update after rollout. Apart from that, Mi Notebook Pro has few softowares like MIUI+ to contact with xiaomi smartphone and Mi drop which you can uninstall and Realme Book also has some softoware to mirror phone screen.
Webcam & microphone
Both laptop the has standard 720p webcam at the top of the bazzel. Decent quality for attaining meetings and online classes but I found little bit yellowish ton on Mi Notebook and Realme Book webcam looks natural. Although, Mi Notebook has better noise cancellation less noisy than Realme Book Slim.
Prices
Coming on most important features of these laptop, Mi Notebook Pro has more flexibility and comes multiple varient. These are includes at Rs 56,990 for 8GB i5 varient, Rs 59,990 for 16GB i5 varient and i7 16GB varient is costs around Rs 72,990.
Back on Realme Book Slim, this has two varient of i3 8GB, priced at Rs 44,999 and i5 8GB is priced at Rs 56,999.
Realme Book Slim vs Mi Notebook Pro: which one is better?
Summarising all these features, mi Notebook Pro is comes out to be better value for money at Rs 57 thousand price point. It seems has better display, more flexibility on ports and some important edges over Realme Book Slim. Even, if you can stretch your budget little bit, I will recommend to go with 16GB ram varient for better Performance. Also read: Mi Notebook Pro detail review with pros, cons and FAQs.
