Side effect of fast charger.

Commonly, people have doubt that, do fast charger have any side effect on battery? This is a controversial question becouse, it depends on company to company, technology that they use in their battery. But in general, by using first charger battery capacity reduces faster.

The reason behind this is, during charge, lithium gravitates to the graphite anode (negative electrode) and the voltage potential changes. A Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI) layer formed on the sarface of anode. As, the battery cycle increases, the SEI layer grows thicker and thicker. A similar restrictive layer formed on cathode (positive electrode) electrolyte oxidation. As, the battery cycle increases, the battery capacity decreases. But, this all depends on C-rate (charging rate) per cell and temperature. By increasing of c-rate and temperature, the battery capacity reduces much faster than normal battery. Hence, the life of battery also decreases. At charging/discharging above 4V electrolyte oxidation take place. But C-rate depends on applied voltage and current during charging. By using of high power charger C-rate increase and battery capacity decreases faster than normal battery. On an average, a normal battery capacity decreases by 20% after 400 charging cycle. And life expectancy of about 1000 charging cycle.

Should you use fast charger?

You can use fast charger if you are planning to buy mobile only for 2 to 2.5 years. But if you want to buy mobile for long term use about more than 3 year, I will recommend you to use maximum 30W charger or lesser.
