How to check virus and malware in a file on android - 111gadget

Virus is now a most common threads for a device, mainly virus came from internet. Downloaded file or android APK file may contain many malicious code or virus which can harm our device and even can spying on you. So there is some way to check or detect there is any virus in your any file or specially apk file or not. So, let's check out.

• Virus Total

There is a free website 'virus total' you can check there whether your apk file containing virus or not. That is very easy first check out website: https://www.virustotal.com.

Choose file or apk file from your device. Wait for some time to compute its hash value then you can see the result whether apk file contains any virus. Hear I have used a virus effected kinemaster apk file.

It will show if there any virus. Hear in my case it is showing a virus ( Android.PUA.Debugkey ) that embedded in my apk file. So, to know no. of virus effected and how much safe to use that file go to summary at the top left.

Now in my case it is showing only one virus is detected and there is a risk to use this apk file. You can also check how much permission it needed to run in your device, to see that go to details. 

Now, in my case it is showing lots of permission it required to run the app but you can control over permission. And you can also check other details lots of things are showing hear.

• Comparing hash value

You can easily check virus by simply comparing hash value of the apk file then again you have to took help of virus Total website.

1. Select apk file and wait few seconds then go to summary and you will see hash value is given at the bottom of score ( indicated in red circle ) it will looks like e1a853e9........

You can see in shown in red circle is hash value of downloaded apk.

2. Now, download that app from playstore and upload to virus Total website then check out hash value, if hash value of downloaded apk from internet and downloaded from playstore are same, then the app ( downloaded from internet ) is safe to use. Otherwise there is some risk.

At last I will say it is better to download app from playstore and quite safe to use. But if you download app from other sources please check that.
